The Illinois State track and field team is set to compete in the 2024 NCAA Division I West Preliminary Round, taking place from May 22 to May 25 at John McDonell Field on the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville. The event will see participation from 14 student-athletes representing Illinois State.
The men's events are scheduled for Wednesday and Friday, while the women's events will occur on Thursday and Saturday. Live coverage of the competition will be available daily on ESPN+.
Among the male athletes, Amiri Buchanan will participate in the shot put on Wednesday at 7:00 PM. Mathis Chavand is slated for the 5,000m run on Friday at 8:10 PM. Charles Cruse will compete in pole vaulting on Wednesday at 6:30 PM. Dewayne Johnson will take part in the 110m hurdles on Wednesday at 6:00 PM, with Jacob Klink also competing in shot put alongside Buchanan. Devin Turner is set for long jump action at 6:00 PM on Wednesday. The men's team will also have a relay team competing in the 4x400m event on Friday at 8:45 PM.
On the women's side, Macy Byer is scheduled for discus throwing on Saturday at 1:00 PM. Claire Fuhlhage and Mattison Plummer are both participating in the 3,000m steeplechase on Saturday at 5:40 PM.
