The Illinois Wesleyan University cross country teams have been recognized for their academic achievements by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Both the women's and men's teams were awarded Division III Cross Country All-Academic team status, as announced on January 26.

To qualify for this recognition, teams must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.1 on a 4.0 scale. The Illinois Wesleyan women's team achieved a 3.46 GPA in the fall semester, joining 212 other Division III programs with similar honors. Other institutions from the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) included Carthage College with a 3.571 GPA, Millikin University with a 3.40 GPA, North Central College with a 3.675 GPA, North Park University with a 3.58 GPA, and Wheaton College with a 3.68 GPA.

The men's team also excelled academically, posting a cumulative GPA of 3.35 in the fall semester among the 189 Division III institutions that received All-Academic distinction. Alongside Illinois Wesleyan were CCIW members Carthage (3.28 GPA), Millikin (3.15 GPA), North Central (3.517 GPA), and Wheaton (3.57 GPA).

Individually, sophomore Annalese Chudy and freshman Adriana Crabtree earned All-Academic athlete status for their academic performance and athletic achievements during the season.

To be named an All-Academic athlete, student-athletes must have at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.

Chudy made history at Illinois Wesleyan as the first sophomore to qualify individually for the NCAA Championship race while maintaining her major in neuroscience. She was also recognized on the All-CCIW First Team and Midwest All-Region Team.

Crabtree distinguished herself during her first collegiate season by earning an All-CCIW Second Team honor after finishing in 13th place at the conference meet.

Head coach Greg Huffaker praised his team's accomplishments as they prepare for another promising season in 2023.
