The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team is set to face North Park University in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin match on Saturday, October 14. The game, scheduled for 1 p.m., will also serve as Senior Day to honor Sarah Johnson from Frankfort, Illinois.
The Titans currently hold a record of 1-11-2 overall and 0-4-1 in the conference following their recent draw against the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. In that match, sophomore Sawyer White assisted junior Sammie Shanks for a late goal in the 89th minute, resulting in a tie. Goalkeeper Adriana Ruffolo made her debut with four saves.
Shanks is among several players who have scored for the Titans this season, including juniors Madalyn Buxton, Tegan Timerman, Amanda Yaeger, and freshmen Sophie Lampert and Ava Mapes.
With three games left in their regular season schedule, Illinois Wesleyan competes closely with North Park University and Elmhurst University in the conference standings. North Park has yet to secure a conference win this season with a record of 2-5-5 overall and 0-2-2 in the CCIW. Historically, the Titans have dominated their encounters with North Park, holding a series record of 26 wins to three losses. In their last meeting on October 15, 2022, Illinois Wesleyan emerged victorious with a score of 5-2.
The upcoming match will celebrate Sarah Johnson's contributions as part of the team that won both the regular season and tournament championships in the CCIW last year.
Kickoff at Neis Field is at 1 p.m., preceded by Senior Day activities starting ten minutes before. Following this game, the IWU men's soccer team will play at 3:30 p.m. Fans can watch the women's game via live stream or follow along with live stats online.
