The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team secured a crucial victory against Elmhurst University, extending their unbeaten streak to three games. The Titans, now with a record of 3-11-2 overall and 2-4-1 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW), defeated the Bluejays 2-0 on Wednesday night at Neis Field. This win keeps their hopes alive for the CCIW Tournament.

Sophomore Sawyer White from Downers Grove played a pivotal role by scoring both goals for Illinois Wesleyan. Her first goal came in the 61st minute after maneuvering past two defenders and outsmarting the Elmhurst goalkeeper. This marked White's first career goal. She then scored again in the 75th minute, assisted by freshman Alexis Shackelford from Orland Park, who delivered a precise pass into the center of the penalty area.

Despite Elmhurst's efforts, including earning a corner kick and taking a shot late in the game, Illinois Wesleyan's defense maintained their composure to secure a shutout victory. Overall, Illinois Wesleyan led with an 18-7 advantage in shots and an 8-2 lead in shots on target. They also had five corner kicks compared to Elmhurst's two.

Freshman goalkeeper Adriana Ruffolo contributed significantly with two saves, marking her second consecutive shutout performance.

The Titans are set to face North Central College for their final regular season CCIW match on Saturday, October 21st at Neis Field.
