Three student-athletes from Illinois Wesleyan University's women's soccer team have been recognized for their academic and athletic achievements by being named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team. The announcement was made on Tuesday, November 21.
The honorees include sophomore Sawyer White from Downers Grove, Illinois, and juniors Audrey Hofstetter from Gilbert, Arizona, and Grace Spader from Bloomington, Illinois. To qualify for this distinction, athletes must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.50 and participate in at least 90% or start in at least 66% of their team's matches.
White has played a key role as a captain during her sophomore year, contributing significantly as a midfielder. She participated in all 18 games of the season and scored her first two career goals against Elmhurst on October 18. White is majoring in elementary education.
Hofstetter also served as a co-captain and played dual roles as a defender and goalkeeper across 17 games. Notably, she scored the decisive goal in IWU's victory over North Park on October 14. Hofstetter is pursuing a degree in business.
Spader played consistently throughout the season as part of the defensive lineup, appearing in all 18 games with 16 starts. As a nursing major, she helped restrict conference opponents to just 13 goals with an average shot percentage of .096.
The CSC Academic All-America teams are set to be announced on Wednesday, December 20 at noon ET.
