The Illinois Wesleyan University softball team secured a sweep against Carthage College in Bloomington, Illinois, on April 20. The Titans achieved a dominant victory in the first game with a 12-0 win in five innings and completed the sweep with a 6-1 triumph in the second game.

In the opening game, sophomore Gianna Certa set the tone for Illinois Wesleyan with a quick inning. The Titans took an early lead with contributions from Anna Beckman and Hailey Milgazo. Jen Kuhn added to the score by driving in Milgazo. A strong offensive performance continued as Bailey Turner and Elyssa Stenger extended the lead to 7-0 by the third inning.

Carthage managed to break up Certa's no-hit bid but could not capitalize further. Illinois Wesleyan scored five more runs in the fourth inning, solidifying their advantage at 12-0. Milgazo, Kuhn, Turner, and Stenger were key contributors to this offensive display.

In the second game, Casey Wissmiller initiated a four-run rally for Illinois Wesleyan in the second inning. Beckman and Milgazo played pivotal roles as well. Despite Carthage's attempts to close the gap later in the game, Caroline Gatchell's pitching ensured they did not succeed.

Illinois Wesleyan added two more runs in the seventh inning before allowing one run from Carthage to conclude with a 6-1 victory. Gatchell matched her career-high of seven strikeouts during this match.

The Titans will face North Park University next on April 21 at Inspiration Field.
