Illinois Wesleyan University softball senior Bailey Turner has been named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Hitter of the Week. This recognition comes after a standout performance during a two-day tournament held from April 6 to April 7, where Illinois Wesleyan hosted No. 15 UW-Whitewater and DePauw.
Turner, hailing from Normal, Illinois, played a pivotal role in her team's success both offensively and defensively. The team secured a 2-1 record in the tournament, including a sweep against DePauw. Turner achieved a .500 batting average with four hits, four runs, and six RBIs. Notably, she hit two home runs, one being a walk-off three-run homer against DePauw on April 7. Her weekend performance included an impressive 1.375 slugging percentage and a .600 on-base percentage.
This accolade marks the third weekly honor of Turner's career and her second time receiving the hitter of the week award.
Looking ahead, Illinois Wesleyan will begin league play on Wednesday, April 10, with a doubleheader against Millikin University at Inspiration Field. The first game is set to start at 4 p.m.
