With the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) play approaching, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team is preparing to face Carthage College this Saturday, October 5th. The teams last met when Illinois Wesleyan made history by winning their first CCIW championship and advancing to the NCAA tournament. In that match, IWU secured a 3-2 victory over Carthage with a decisive goal scored three minutes before the end.

The Titans and Firebirds have faced each other 32 times since 1995, with Carthage leading the series with a record of 22 wins, 8 losses, and 2 draws against Illinois Wesleyan. Recently, Carthage played two other CCIW schools, defeating Millikin University 2-0 on September 28 but losing to Carroll University 2-1 on October 2. Currently, Carthage holds an overall record of 5-4-1 and is 1-1 in conference play.
