Junior Logan Tierney, a student-athlete from Bloomington, Illinois, has been named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Offensive Player of the Week. This marks the first time Tierney has received this recognition in his career. The announcement was made by the league office on Tuesday, September 10.
Tierney played a key role in Illinois Wesleyan University's recent victory against Blackburn College. In the match, which ended with a score of 5-0, Tierney scored two goals and provided one assist, accumulating five points for his team.
The game saw Tierney score his first career goal following a free kick from senior Declan Nugent. Nugent's 25-yard kick set up Tierney for a diving header that put the Titans ahead. Shortly after, Tierney assisted sophomore Ryder Coleman in scoring Coleman's first career goal.
Before halftime, Tierney added another goal with a shot to the top right corner of the net, extending IWU's lead to 4-0. The Titans maintained their strong performance throughout the week with an earlier 1-0 win against Eureka College.
Illinois Wesleyan University is scheduled to play Rockford University at home on Friday, September 13. The non-conference match will begin at 7 p.m.
