Illinois Wesleyan University's women's soccer team faced a narrow defeat against Elmhurst University on Saturday night. The match ended with a 1-0 scoreline in favor of Elmhurst, following a last-minute goal. This result places the Titans at 3-9-2 overall and 1-3-1 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW), while Elmhurst improved to 8-7-2 overall and 3-3 in conference play.

The first half was uneventful, with Illinois Wesleyan controlling possession. They managed eight shots, two on target, while their defense limited Elmhurst to five shots, only one of which required a save by freshman goalkeeper Grace Kiewiet.

In the second half, junior Kayley Carew delivered a corner kick to sophomore Ava Mapes for an attempted header that missed its mark. Junior Sammie Shanks later crossed to junior Bree Cordray for another shot that went high.

Freshman Ellen Dahlquist advanced up the sideline before passing to junior Jenna Gravitt for a header attempt, but it was saved by Elmhurst's goalkeeper. Despite having a disallowed goal due to offside, Elmhurst secured victory with a late one-on-one play against Kiewiet.

Illinois Wesleyan doubled Elmhurst's shot count at 16-8 but could not convert these opportunities into goals. Kiewiet made two saves during the match as the Titan defense allowed only three shots on target.

The Titans will face North Central College next Wednesday for their final away game of the regular season.
