The Illinois Wesleyan University women's and men's cross country teams are set to compete in the NCAA Midwest Regionals. The event will take place at the Northwestern Medicine Cross Country Course in Geneva, Illinois, with Aurora University as the host. The women's 6k race is scheduled for 11 a.m., followed by the men's 8k at noon.
Each team will send seven athletes to participate, making a total of 14 athletes representing Illinois Wesleyan. Team scores will be determined by adding up the points corresponding to each runner's finish position, with the lowest score winning.
According to the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) week seven region poll from November 1, the top-three Midwest women's programs are University of Chicago, Wartburg, and WashU. For men, North Central, Wartburg, and Loras hold the top positions.
Competing for the women's team are Annalese Chudy, Adriana Crabtree, Amanda Wilson, Tia Hardt, Brooke Nazos, Abby Quinn, and Emily Wagh. The men's team includes J.D. Barrett, Zack Daniel, Nick Fisch, Josh Tong, Ernie Waterson, Seth Hamerski, and Zach Marquardt.
Previously on October 29 at the CCIW Championships, the women finished fourth with 114 points while the men placed seventh with 180 points. Wheaton College won the women's title with 45 points; North Central took home the men's title with just 15 points.
Annalese Chudy earned a second-place finish at that meet with a time of 22:32.73. Adriana Crabtree also performed well with a 13th-place finish in a time of 23:46.20. On the men's side, Nick Fisch achieved his first top-20 finish in his career with a time of 25:57.50.
