The Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team is set to compete in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The team will face Tufts University on Saturday, May 11, at Frank Bailey Field at Bertagna-Class of 1985 Stadium in Schenectady, New York. Union College (NY) will host the regional pod and play against Stevenson University later that day.

Illinois Wesleyan has achieved a perfect record during the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin regular season for six consecutive years, securing their seventh CCIW Regular Season Championship. Head Coach Zach Iannucci has led the team since its inception in 2014, achieving an overall record of 139-44 and a CCIW record of 46-4.

Eight players from Illinois Wesleyan were named to the 2024 All-CCIW squad. Gage Black, Trystan Seeley, Colin Tervo, Sam Skelton, and Michael Campagna received first-team honors. Noah Dretzka, Sam Weinberg, and Ethan Hart were named to the second team. Campagna was also recognized as the 2024 CCIW Defensive Player of the Year.

Senior Gage Black leads with individual man-up goals nationally and holds a significant role in IWU's offense with 70 points this season. Freshman Timothy McHugh has excelled as a primary distributor with his team-leading 35 assists.

As a team, IWU ranks within the top 25 across ten statistical categories nationally. They rank sixth in ground balls per game and have shown strong performances both offensively and defensively throughout their games.

In their recent match against Aurora University on May 8th, IWU secured a victory with standout performances from Sam Weinberg and senior Ethan Hart.

Saturday's game marks the first meeting between Illinois Wesleyan and Tufts University. Both teams have strong records going into this matchup; IWU stands at 14-3 while Tufts is at 13-3 after facing several ranked opponents this season.

The winners from Saturday's games will advance to play on Sunday, May 12th.
