Illinois Wesleyan set to face Millikin University in men’s soccer matchup

The Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team will travel to Decatur, Illinois, to compete against Millikin University on Wednesday, October 11. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at Frank M. Lindsay Field.

Illinois Wesleyan approaches this match following a scoreless draw against Carroll University. Their current season record stands at 3-4-3. Meanwhile, Millikin University enters the game with a recent victory over Augustana College, winning 6-0, and holds an overall record of 5-5-1 for the season.

Both teams have faced similar opponents this season in both conference and non-conference games. In non-conference play against Aurora University and Washington University in St. Louis (WashU), Illinois Wesleyan secured two wins while Millikin suffered two losses. Both teams also faced Carroll University and Augustana College in conference play; each team defeated Augustana in shutouts, but while Illinois Wesleyan tied with Carroll, Millikin lost to them.

Historically, Illinois Wesleyan and Millikin have played each other 43 times since 1986, with the Titans holding a slight disadvantage in the series with a record of 20-21-2. The last encounter between these teams occurred on October 12, 2022, when Illinois Wesleyan emerged victorious with a 2-1 win. Brody Seaton scored early for the Titans, followed by Declan Nugent's goal securing their victory.

Sophomore goalkeeper Sam Kedzior has been recognized as CCIW Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season as of October 10. Kedzior leads in several statistical categories for goalies within the CCIW: save percentage (.907), saves per game (4.9), and shutouts (4). He was instrumental in maintaining a clean sheet during their recent matches against Augustana and Carroll.
