The Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team concluded its 2024 season with the announcement of its team awards. Head Coach Zach Iannucci recognized four players for their contributions throughout the season.
The Titans finished the season with a 13-4 record, including an undefeated 5-0 in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play. The team secured its seventh CCIW Regular Season title and sixth tournament crown, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. This marks IWU's sixth NCAA postseason appearance in 11 seasons, having reached the Elite Eight in 2021. The Titans ranked seventh in Division III for ground balls per game (43.49) and 14th nationally for scoring offense (16.28). They were also among the top-25 in nine statistical categories, including assists, ground balls, man-up offense, points, and winning percentage.
Senior defender and captain Michael Campagna was named the team's Most Valuable Player. He led IWU's defense with 33 caused turnovers and finished third on the team with 51 ground balls. Campagna received recognition as CCIW Defensive Player of the Year and was a First Team All-CCIW selection.
Senior Gage Black was awarded Offensive Most Valuable Player after leading the team with 71 points and 51 goals. Black was a First Team All-CCIW selection and an Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American, ranking second in Division III this season with 14 man-up goals.
Ethan Hart earned Defensive Most Valuable Player honors for his role in anchoring the Titan defense. Hart recorded the third-most caused turnovers (21) on the team and was a Second Team All-CCIW honoree. He also received the CCIW Elite 26 award for having the highest GPA among student-athletes competing in conference championship games.
Freshman Timothy McHugh received Illinois Wesleyan's Newcomer of the Year award for his performance as a primary distributor for the Titans, leading with 37 assists.
Coach Iannucci awarded letters to 30 players, many of whom are expected to return next season.
