A trio of seniors from the Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team has been honored by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) as Scholar All-Americans. Michael Campagna, Ethan Hart, and Alex Oximana received this distinction, according to an announcement made on Thursday, June 13.

To qualify for the Scholar All-American status, student-athletes must be seniors with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and have earned all-conference accolades. The final selection is made by the USILA's Scholar All-American committee.

The Illinois Wesleyan team also earned recognition with the USILA Team Academic Award, which requires a team GPA of at least 3.0 for the academic year.

Michael Campagna, a business major from Arlington Heights, Illinois, was noted for his strong defensive performance this season. He led his team with 33 caused turnovers and collected 51 ground balls. His efforts earned him an Honorable Mention in the USILA All-America selections and he was named Defensive Player of the Year in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW). Additionally, Campagna received First Team All-CCIW honors after two previous seasons on the second team.

Ethan Hart from Littleton, Colorado excelled both academically and athletically as an accounting major with a finance minor. On defense, he ranked third in caused turnovers with 21 and fourth in ground balls with 48 scoops. Hart was recognized as an All-CCIW Second Team honoree and won the CCIW Elite 26 Award for having the highest GPA among athletes competing in the CCIW Championship game for two consecutive years.

Alex Oximana from Seattle majored in kinesiology and allied health while minoring in business. He achieved Scholar All-America status alongside his teammates Campagna and Hart. Oximana was also awarded the CCIW RESPECT Award this year following his First Team All-CCIW selection in 2022. As a goalie this season, he played in 12 games recording 42 saves with a goals-against average of 10.61 and a save percentage of .553.

Illinois Wesleyan's men's lacrosse team's academic success placed them among three schools within their conference to receive USILA's Team Academic Award along with Carthage College and Elmhurst University. The Titan trio were part of nine student-athletes within their conference to achieve Scholar All-American honors.
