The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin announced its final weekly awards on April 30, recognizing Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse player Michael Rocco as the Defensive Player of the Week. The sophomore from Libertyville, Illinois, is the fifth player from his team to receive such an honor this season. Previous recipients include Noah Dretzka, Michael Campagna, Trystan Seeley, and Colin Tervo.
Rocco's performance in a game against Carroll University on April 27 contributed significantly to his recognition. He matched his career-high with 16 faceoff wins out of 24 attempts and collected three ground balls. Notably, in the last quarter of the game, Rocco won the opening faceoff and scored his first career goal by taking it directly to the crease.
Illinois Wesleyan University will play against Carthage College in a CCIW semifinal match on May 1 at Tucci Stadium.
