The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams are preparing to host the Titan Open on Saturday, February 10, at the Shirk Center in Bloomington, Illinois. This event comes just before the indoor conference championships, with only two meets left in the season.
At the recent Keck DIII Select meet, three Titans delivered national top-20 performances. Freshman Imani Ogunribidio from Hanover Park improved her triple jump to a distance of 11.70 meters (38'4.75"), nearly a foot more than her previous record. She leads her conference by over a foot and is ranked 12th in Division III.
Sophomore Adriana Crabtree from Normal set a personal best in the mile with a time of five minutes and 1.35 seconds, leading her conference by over eight seconds. Her time ranks 15th nationally after conversion for banked tracks to 4:58.40#. Both Ogunribidio and Crabtree moved into third place in IWU's history for their events and were named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Track and Field Athletes of the Week on February 7.
On the men's side, sophomore Isaac Whitaker from Bloomington achieved a new personal best in pole vaulting during the final competition at Saturday's Keck Select meet. He improved his record by ten inches to reach 4.71 meters (15'5.40"), placing fifth among 22 competitors. Whitaker's performance is third-best in IWU records, second in CCIW rankings, and 19th nationally.
The Titan Open will see participation from 21 men's teams and 17 women's teams representing all NCAA Divisions as well as NAIA and NJCAA institutions inside the Shirk Center. The track events will begin with the 5,000-meter run at 10 a.m., followed by field events starting at 10:30 a.m.
Event schedules with estimated start times are available online. Results will be posted on IWUsports.com after the meet concludes.
