Illinois Wesleyan athletes compete at GVSU Big Meet

A group of track and field athletes from Illinois Wesleyan University participated in the Grand Valley State University's Big Meet held in Allendale, Michigan. The event took place on Friday, February 9, ahead of IWU's Titan Open meet scheduled for Saturday.

Junior Nick Fisch from Woodridge, Illinois, representing Montini Catholic, competed in the men's 5,000-meter run. He achieved a personal-best time of 15 minutes and 39.75 seconds, securing second place in his heat among 32 participants. Junior Ernie Waterson from Bloomington, Illinois, associated with Cornerstone Christian Academy, completed the 800-meter run with a time of 1:55.24, placing him 26th overall. His performance ranks sixth within the conference.

In the women's events, junior Annalese Chudy from Libertyville, Illinois, representing Libertyville High School, finished 17th in her heat for the women's 5,000-meter race with a time of 18:16.45. This result is noted as the top mark in the conference by a margin of 12 seconds. Sophomore Adriana Crabtree from Normal, Illinois, affiliated with University High School, ran the women's mile in 5:03.52 to secure a 20th-place finish out of a field of 66 competitors.

The larger teams from IWU are set to host the Titan Open at the Shirk Center on Saturday, February 10. Running events will commence at 10 a.m., followed by field events starting at 10:30 a.m.
