The Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU) men's and women's swim and dive teams faced DePauw University in a dual meet on Friday, November 8. Both IWU teams recorded their second losses of the season, with the men's team losing 159-41 and the women's team falling 142-65.
In the women's events, senior Alexa Starkey from Normal, Illinois secured first place in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:38.07. Junior Natalie Porter from Danville, Illinois also claimed victory in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing at 5:32.98. Senior Emily Marks achieved a second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:31.12.
The IWU women's team took third place in the 400-yard medley relay with Samantha Borre starting off for the Titans, followed by Kayleigh Kuschewski, Isabella Cano, and Julia Jozwiak.
On the men's side, IWU placed fourth in the 400-yard medley relay featuring Carter Dilger, Tate Thomas, Ben Huk, and Jacob Nacional who completed it in a time of 3:55.02. Dilger earned second place finishes in both the 200-yard freestyle (1:51.47) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:03.98). Nacional also secured runner-up positions in both the 200-yard individual medley (2:09.08) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:09.00). Thomas came second in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:08.94.
Both Titan divers emerged victorious in their respective one-meter diving competitions; freshman Sarah Worsley scored first for women with points totaling to105.80 while freshman David Ren led for men scoring122.00 points.
