The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams are preparing to host the inaugural Jason Dennis Memorial Meet on Friday, January 24, at the Shirk Center in Bloomington, Illinois. This event honors Jason Dennis, a 2000 graduate of IWU who made significant contributions to the university's track and field teams. Dennis was a four-time All-American in shot put and became the indoor national champion in 2000. His records in indoor men's shot put (17.26m) and men's discus (54.51m) remain unbroken.

Recently, the Titans achieved notable success at a home meet with 12 first-place finishes across both squads. Sophomore Matt Lindberg achieved a high jump of 2.01m, ranking fifth all-time for IWU. Freshman Nick Walker placed second with a jump of 1.95m, ranking seventh all-time. In women's shot put, sophomore Lauryn Moore secured tenth place in program history with her throw of 10.86m.

In an unusual race over 1200 meters, junior Adriana Crabtree set a school record with a time of 3:49.47 while senior Emma McGrath followed closely behind with a time of 3:49.88, ranking second all-time for IWU women. On the men's side, senior Ernie Waterson won his event in 3:09.91 to sit third in program history.

The upcoming meet will feature Eureka College, McKendree University, and Heartland Community College as participants alongside IWU's athletes starting at 5 p.m.

A live stream of the event will be available online with separate channels for track and field events respectively.
