Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse player Gage Black has been recognized as an Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American Honorable Mention for the second consecutive year. Black, a fifth-year student from Peoria, Illinois, continues to enhance his athletic profile with this accolade.
Black's achievements include two USILA All-America Honorable Mentions, two First Team IMLCA All-Region 5 selections at midfield, and three all-conference honors. His contribution was pivotal in last season's College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Regular Season and Tournament victories and the Titans' advance to the NCAA Tournament. During the 2024 season, Black played all 18 games, leading his team with 71 points and 51 goals.
In addition to his other accomplishments, Black set new records for Illinois Wesleyan in single-season man-up goals with 14, a statistic that placed him second in Division III last season. His career total for man-up goals now stands at 32.
The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin had limited representation on the honorable mention list, with only one other player joining Black: Elmhurst attack Eli Spence.
Illinois Wesleyan will begin their 2025 season at the Music City Classic in Nashville, Tennessee on February 15-16. The Titans are scheduled to play against Transylvania on Saturday, February 14 at 4:45 p.m., followed by a match against Centre on Sunday at 2 p.m.
