Illinois State's Elyce Knudsen has been named the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Newcomer of the Week for the third time this year, as announced by the league office on Monday. Knudsen's performance last week was instrumental in leading her team to victories over Indiana State and Evansville.

Knudsen achieved an average of 16.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, shooting 46.4% from the floor and hitting 50% from beyond the arc across two games. Her standout performance came against Evansville on Saturday, where she scored 19 points and grabbed six rebounds with an 8-for-16 shooting record. This was the highest score by a newcomer in a single game last week. Earlier in the week, she contributed 13 points, three rebounds, and two blocks against Indiana State.

Throughout this season, Knudsen is averaging 13.5 points and 3.2 rebounds per game for Illinois State, maintaining a shooting percentage of 45.1% from the field and nearly 40% from three-point range. She has scored in double figures in fifteen games this season, including five games where she exceeded twenty points.

This accolade marks the sixth instance this season that a player from Illinois State has been recognized as MVC Newcomer of the Week, more than any other team in the conference. Addison Martin also shares three MVC Newcomer of the Week titles this season.
