Illinois Wesleyan men's volleyball seeks to break losing streak against North Park

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's volleyball team is set to face North Park University in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) match on Wednesday, February 26. The Titans, with a record of 10-6 overall and 0-2 in the CCIW, are looking to end a three-game losing streak after recent losses to nationally-ranked teams, including No. 5 Carthage College.

Freshman Gavin Rohlwing led the offense against Carthage with eight kills on a .536 attack percentage. Sophomore Brenden Reutter contributed significantly with 18 assists during the game. Senior Jake Kougan was notable for his defensive efforts at the net with two blocks.

This season, sophomore Bryce Williams has been a key player for Illinois Wesleyan's offense, amassing 149 kills and averaging 2.98 per set. Rohlwing follows closely with 112 kills on a .339 attack percentage, while freshman Ethan Kuziela has achieved 96 kills.

The team's service aces are led by Reutter with 18, followed by Williams and freshman Ben Zima with 14 and 10 respectively. Reutter and senior Vince DiCosola have been instrumental in setting up plays, contributing most of the team's assists this season.

Defensively, junior Jace Milka leads the team in digs with an average of 2.14 per set. Williams and Reutter each have recorded 89 digs this season. Rohlwing stands out in blocking, leading both the team and the CCIW with an average of 1.05 blocks per set.

Historically, North Park holds a slight advantage over Illinois Wesleyan in their matchups but IWU has won their last three encounters against NPU. The most recent win came on April 6, 2024.

North Park enters this matchup following a victory over Augustana College via reverse sweep.
