The Illinois Wesleyan University track and field teams are preparing a smaller group to participate in the Gibson Invitational at Indiana State University from April 17-19. The event begins with the women's heptathlon on Thursday at 10 a.m. ET, continuing into Friday, with field events at noon and running events from 6 p.m. ET.

In recent competitions, Illinois Wesleyan's teams have achieved significant accomplishments. Senior Carlyssa King set a new school record in the women's hammer throw, reaching 53.94 meters. King’s achievement earned her the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Field Athlete of the Week honors. Junior Evan Lowder gained the CCIW Track Athlete of the Week after securing third place in the men's 400m and teaming up for a winning performance in the men's relay event.

Several Titan athletes participated in the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Invitational, where senior Annalese Chudy improved her ranking for the women's 5k. Seniors Nick Fisch and junior Zack Daniel reached the top-10 in the men’s 5000m event.

Nationwide, Illinois Wesleyan players hold five top-25 marks, with King ranking sixth in the hammer throw and Lowder 15th in the 400m. The men’s relay team ranks 16th, while sophomore Imani Ogunribido is 12th in the women's triple jump, and junior Adriana Crabtree places 23rd in the 1500m.

In regional rankings, both the men's and women's teams are 10th in the Midwest according to the latest update from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Senior Lauren Huber will be competing in the heptathlon for the first time since her CCIW heptathlon victory in 2023. The women's discus and men's javelin will begin on Friday at noon ET, followed by the 3000m steeplechase and 5000m races at 6 p.m. ET. Other events are scheduled for Saturday, starting with field events at 11:30 a.m. ET and running events at noon ET.
