Illinois Wesleyan University's track and field teams concluded the Gibson Invitational in Terre Haute, Indiana, with a mix of impressive performances despite challenging weather. The teams secured one event win and 11 additional top-10 finishes at Indiana State University.
Junior Evan Lowder secured victory for the Titans on the final day, winning the men's 400-meter in 47.30 seconds. This season-best performance positions Lowder ninth in Division III. He also clocked a 21.68 in the 200m, finishing eighth overall.
Sophomore Imani Ogunribido finished third in the women's triple jump with a season-best 11.98m (39'3.75"), moving into the national top-10 rankings at No. 9. In the men's triple jump, sophomore Ethan Godsey achieved fourth place with a jump of 13.83m (45'4.50").
In the hammer throw, both CJ Ladewig and Carlyssa King placed fifth in their respective events. Ladewig's best throw measured 50.69m (166'3") and King's reached 52.03m (170'8").
The Titans also saw two eighth-place finishes in the 800m races. Ernie Waterson ran a 1:54.07 in the men's event, and Mackenzie Huber posted a 2:17.55 in the women's race.
Sophomore Carson Green secured an eighth-place finish in the men's long jump, while freshman Nick Walker achieved ninth with an outdoor-best of 1.95m (6'4.75"), tying with teammate Matt Lindberg for tenth in program history.
In relay events, Walker teamed with Noah Sadowski, Luke Alberstett, and Keagan Uphoff for a ninth-place finish in the men's 4x400m, posting a 3:26.24. The women's team, with Adriana Crabtree, Peyton Stinger, Kelsey Moore, and Emma McGrath, finished eighth in 4:07.14.
Sophia Baczak achieved a personal best in the women's pole vault with a clearance of 3.15m (10'4"), securing the No. 10 spot in program history.
Next, Illinois Wesleyan will compete at Monmouth College in a midweek meet on April 22, with events starting at 4 p.m.
