Ill. Wesleyan athletes secure six victories at Monmouth event despite weather delays

In Monmouth, Illinois, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams secured six first-place finishes despite weather setbacks at Monmouth College on April 22, 2025. The teams also achieved 11 top-three placements during the competition.

The university's athletes dominated the men's 110m hurdles and women's 100m hurdles events. Senior Bobby Mogged from Piper City, Illinois, secured victory in the men’s 110m hurdles, finishing in 16.12 seconds. Freshman Kelsey Moore from Arcola, Illinois, took first place on the women’s side with a personal-best time of 16.30 seconds. Also noteworthy was freshman Keagan Uphoff from McLean, Illinois, who followed closely behind Mogged with a time of 16.19 seconds to take second place in the men's event.

In the women's 400m race, freshman Caroline Hill from Bement, Illinois, and senior Davion Lemon from Marrero, Louisiana, came in first and second respectively. Hill clocked in at 1:02.16 while Lemon followed with 1:05.98. For the men’s 400m, sophomore Noah Sadowski from Burr Ridge, Illinois, achieved a personal best and third-place finish with 50.36 seconds.

Freshman Nick Walker from Metamora, Illinois, earned third place in the men’s long jump with a leap of 6.13 meters.

Additionally, sophomore Reece Dusek from Peoria, Illinois, claimed first place in the men’s 800m, clocking in at 1:58.34, while freshman Jacob Pinkston from Tinley Park, Illinois, finished third with 2:00.51.

In field events, senior Carlyssa King from Decatur, Illinois, won the women's hammer throw with a distance of 51.27 meters. Senior Matthew Wagner from Normal, Illinois, topped the men’s shot put with a throw of 13.92 meters.

The Illinois Wesleyan team plans to send a smaller group of athletes to the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, from April 24 to 26, while a larger contingent will compete at the Millikin Friday Night Invite in Decatur, Illinois, on April 25.
