Illinois State University is celebrating the achievements of its women's tennis players, Elena Jankulovska and Silvia Pomarolli, who have both secured positions on the 2025 Missouri Valley Conference Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete Team. Jankulovska, a graduate student, has been distinguished with the conference's highest accolade as the 2025 MVC Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year, marking the second time she has received this recognition, with her first being in 2023.
Jankulovska's performance this season includes a 10-7 overall singles record, featuring a 2-5 mark in MVC play at the No. 5 spot. The Skopje, Macedonia native notched notable victories in matches against Purdue on January 18 and Marquette on February 1.
Teammate Silvia Pomarolli, a junior, also earned acknowledgment on the scholar-athlete first team. This marks the second time in her career that Pomarolli has received MVC Scholar-Athlete honors, with a prior designation as MVC Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2024. This season, Pomarolli achieved a 9-7 overall record with a 4-3 standing in MVC play, showing a strong performance at the No. 1 spot. She also recorded a three-match win streak in MVC play from March 22 to 30 against Bradley, UNI, and Drake.
As the season advances, Illinois State holds a 13-7 overall record and a 6-2 mark within the MVC. The team will face Drake University in the 2025 Missouri Valley Conference Championships at Valparaiso Tennis Complex on April 25, with the first serve set for 2:00 p.m.
