The Illinois State track and field program is set to hold the Senior Spotlight event this Friday at the Redbird Track and Field Complex, beginning at 9 a.m. The highlight of the event, Senior Recognition, is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
The athletes to be recognized for their contributions to the team include Corrina Courser, Atleigh Hamilton, Gracie Jessup, Windsor Roberts, Kiley Sanders, Madison Saunders, Lauren Schulze, Kaitlin Skeate, Ella Vacek, Ariel Atias, Darcis Bitangalo, Nick Doud, Julian Head, Sean Hopkins, Caleb Lerus, Zach Loomis, Kevyere Mack, Michael Marrs, Noah Penry, Josh Schmid, Devin Turner, Ian Geisler, Anthony Smith, Cade Ward, Karlie Stauder, Reece Davis, and William Sinclair.
This event follows a successful competition at the Fighting Illini Twilight in Champaign, Illinois, where the team achieved two top-10 marks and several personal bests. Among the notable performances was junior Enyinnaya Nwagwu Jr., who secured a spot on Illinois State's all-time list in the men's 200m by finishing with a time of 20.93, ranking him seventh in school history. The men's 4x100m relay team, composed of Reed, Nwagwu, Paul, and Curtis, recorded a time of 40.05, ranking them fifth in the program's history.
After Friday's meet, the Illinois State athletes will head to Bloomington and Terre Haute, Indiana, to compete in the Billy Hayes Invitational and Sycamore Open on May 9.
