The Illinois State baseball team is preparing to face Northern Illinois in a game scheduled for 2:00 p.m. CT on Tuesday. This match comes after Illinois State's recent series loss to Missouri State.
Northern Illinois, known as the Huskies, currently holds an 18-29 record this season and a 7-17 record in the Mid-American Conference (MAC). At home, they have achieved a 4-10 standing in 2025. Recently, the Huskies have shown some strength by winning three out of their last five games, including road victories against Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan.
In terms of team performance, Northern Illinois has accumulated notable statistics with 98 doubles, ranking them 45th nationally; 76 home runs, placing them at 28th; and scoring an average of 8.1 runs per game, which ranks them at 48th.
Historically, Illinois State leads the series against Northern Illinois with an all-time margin of 82-58-1. The two teams last met on April 23 in Normal where Illinois State secured a decisive midweek victory over the Huskies with a score of 14-6.
Key players for Illinois State include junior Daniel Pacella and senior Joe Husak. Pacella has recorded a total of 52 RBIs this season, bringing his career tally to second all-time in ISU history with a total of 169 RBIs. He also ranks second all-time for career home runs at ISU with a count of 43.
