The Illinois State women's golf team started their NCAA Regional competition with a record-setting performance. The team recorded an opening round score of 299, the lowest in the program's history for an NCAA Regional. This surpassed their previous best of 301 from the 2013 NCAA Central Regional at Jimmie Austin Golf Course in Norman, Oklahoma.

Lory Paradis led the Redbirds with a score of 73 (+1), tying for the fifth-lowest NCAA Regional round in the team's history. She is one of four players making their debut at this level and currently sits tied for 28th place after completing her round with a birdie and 15 pars.

Tournament host Ohio State, ranked 14th nationally, leads after the first day with a score of 279 (-9). They are followed by second-ranked Arkansas (282), tenth-ranked LSU (284), Kent State (287), UNLV (287), Illinois (289), Kansas (289), SMU (289), Xavier (289), and Houston (295).

Jinyoung Yun finished her first round tied for 35th place with a score of 74. Despite starting off slowly, she ended strong with two birdies and twelve pars. Morgan Jones also had an uneven start but completed her day tied for 44th place after scoring nine consecutive pars on her back nine.

Freshmen Jessica Jolly and Elise Fennell rounded out ISU's lineup with scores of 77 and 78 respectively, each recording a birdie along with twelve pars.
