The Illinois State women's golf team faced challenging weather conditions during the NCAA Regionals in Columbus, Ohio. Persistent rain, sometimes intensifying to a downpour, added difficulty as the Redbirds competed against 12 other schools on Tuesday afternoon. Despite the adverse conditions, Illinois State maintained its position heading into the tournament's final day.
The Redbirds are set to begin their final round at 7:55 a.m. (CT) on Wednesday alongside teams from Illinois and Oakland.
Arkansas leads after 36 holes with a score of 580. UNLV follows closely with 581, then Kansas and Ohio State both at 582. The standings continue with SMU at 592, LSU and Kent State tied at 593, Houston at 596, Xavier at 599, and Illinois at 600. Illinois State stands in the 11th position with a score of 617, while Oakland is in 12th place with a score of 634.
Morgan Jones recorded the lowest score for the Redbirds with a round of 76, which included one birdie and twelve pars. She currently holds a two-day total of 151 and is tied for the 34th position overall in the tournament.
Lory Paradis also shares this spot after shooting six-over-par for a second-round total of 78 amidst challenging conditions marked by one birdie and eleven pars.
Jinyoung Yun achieved ten pars during her second-round score of 80 and is tied for the position number forty-seven going into Wednesday's play. Freshmen Elise Fennell scored an eighty-four while Jessica Jolly posted an eighty-five; both are tied for sixty-second place after completing thirty-six holes.
