The Illinois Wesleyan University track and field teams are preparing for the Midwest Twilight Final Qualifier at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. This event is scheduled for Wednesday, May 14, just a week before the NCAA Division III Track and Field Outdoor Championships. The track events will commence at 2 p.m., followed by field events at 3 p.m.
Senior Ernie Waterson from Bloomington will compete in the 800-meter race at 5:25 p.m., aiming to improve his current time of 1:51.48, which ranks him 38th in Division III. Freshman Nick Walker from Metamora will participate in the high jump at 4 p.m., where he currently holds a national ranking of 25th with a mark of 2.03 meters.
The men's team also includes a 4-by-400m relay featuring sophomores Reece Dusek and Carson Green, junior Evan Lowder, and senior Alex Harvey. They aim to better their time of 3:13.31, ranked 28th nationally, during their race at 8:15 p.m.
Evan Lowder recently set a new school record with a time of 46.55 seconds in the open 400m at the UW-La Crosse Uncaged Eagle Open. This achievement places him fourth nationally and makes him the holder of a new College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin open record.
On the women's side, junior Adriana Crabtree will compete in both the 1500m and the steeplechase events. Her steeplechase time ranks her 16th nationally, while her performance in the 1500m places her at number 48. Senior Lauren Huber will take part in the high jump and hurdles on Wednesday afternoon.
Sophomore Imani Ogunribido ranks fourth nationally in the women's triple jump with a mark of 12.57 meters and is set to compete after taking last week off. Sophomore Alex Reinhart will run in the women's 800m race at approximately 5:50 p.m., with her season-best time ranking her as number 40 nationally.
