URBANA, Ill. – The Illinois State University (ISU) Redbirds secured a top-10 finish at the 2025 NCAA Urbana Regional after an impressive start, where they were seven under par through the first three holes. This tournament also marked the conclusion of collegiate careers for ISU standouts Alex McCulla and Will Troy.
The tournament saw second-ranked Oklahoma State and host team 14th-ranked Illinois tie for first place with a score of 837. Other teams advancing to the NCAA Championships include 35th-ranked UNLV (846), Troy (850), and 23rd-ranked Texas Tech (851). North Carolina, Houston, Marquette, and Long Beach State were among the teams finishing ahead of ISU's score of 867.
Will Troy was ISU's leading performer on the final day with a one-under-par round of 70, tying for 41st overall in individual standings. TJ Barger concluded his season with an even-par round of 71, securing a tie for 27th place with a total score of 215 over three rounds.
Alex McCulla ended his participation with a three-over-par round of 74, placing him tied for 34th in the tournament with a total score of 216. Freshman Max Faucquez finished four over par in his final round and tied for 45th place with a total score of 219. Pietro Pontiggia completed the event with a three-round total of 223, tying for 56th place.
