Illinois Wesleyan athletes to compete at NCAA Division III Track Championships

The Illinois Wesleyan University track and field teams are preparing to compete in the NCAA Division III Track and Field Outdoor Championships. The event will take place at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio, from Thursday to Saturday, May 22-24.

The team will be represented by seniors Carlyssa King and Lauren Huber, juniors Evan Lowder and Adriana Crabtree, and sophomore Imani Ogunribido.

Lauren Huber is set to participate in the women's heptathlon starting on Thursday, May 22, at 12:30 p.m. ET. This is her first appearance at an NCAA track and field event. She qualified as the No. 11 seed with a heptathlon score of 4821 points achieved in April. She will compete alongside Thea Ring from North Park University and Faith Ladin from North Central College.

Carlyssa King will make her third national appearance this weekend in the hammer throw event. Her school record toss of 53.94m (177'0") secured her spot as the No. 11 seed for the competition scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m. ET.

Evan Lowder enters the meet as the No. 5 seed after setting a school and conference record time of 46.55 seconds in the men's 400-meter race two weeks ago. He will run in the preliminary round on Friday at 3 p.m. ET with finals slated for Saturday at 2:10 p.m.

Adriana Crabtree is competing in her third NCAA track and field event, racing in the first round of the 3000m steeplechase on Thursday at 7:35 p.m., with finals on Friday at 4:55 p.m.

Imani Ogunribido competes as the No. 2 seed in women's triple jump after setting a school and conference record performance of 12.57m (41'3"). This marks her fourth NCAA appearance with competitions held on Saturday.

The championships begin Thursday, May 22, with live results available online through iwusports.com.
