Next Saturday, September 13, a free paper shredding event will take place in Streator. The event is being hosted by Illinois State Representative Jason Bunting and will be held at Bruce Township Hall, located at 216 N. Sterling Street in Streator from 9 a.m. until noon.

The event offers residents an opportunity to safely dispose of old confidential documents and protect themselves from identity theft. It is organized as a drive-up event, allowing participants to pull up and drop off their documents without leaving their vehicles. Those who wish to observe the shredding process may do so.

Bunting stated, "This is a good opportunity to protect yourself from identity theft by safely and securely shredding your old confidential documents."

He added that he and his staff will be present during the event to discuss any state government concerns with attendees.

Bunting was elected as a Republican representative for Illinois' 106th House District in 2023, succeeding Thomas Bennett.
