Johnston secured his second consecutive victory as the Illinois Wesleyan University men's wrestling team faced a 44-9 defeat against North Central College, which is ranked tenth nationally. The dual meet took place on Monday, November 17, at the Shirk Center in Bloomington, Illinois.

This event was only the second home meet for IWU men's wrestling since the program's reinstatement in 2023. Both teams were awarded six points each due to forfeits at the 125 and 133-pound weight classes.

Junior Austin Johnston from Normal, Illinois, achieved a 5-3 decision over Carson Prunty. According to the university, "His win is the first triumph for the program inside the Shirk Center." However, North Central College won all of the remaining matches.

The Illinois Wesleyan Titans will compete again on Saturday, November 22, at the Eight Man Battles hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The competition is set to start at 9 a.m.
