Bloomington ranked 673th in state in lottery ticket sales for April 2016

The City of Bloomington had the 673th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of April 2016 -- down 71 spots from its March ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Bloomington was $11.37 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the McLean County Times, Bloomington generated $890,361.50 in net sales from its 54 lottery retailers in April 2016, compared to $1,062,845.50 in April 2015.

The City of Bloomington is in McLean County, and has a population of 78,292, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are Normal and Twin Grove.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in April 2016 was $12,889.05.

Bloomington's top lottery retailer is Franzettis Pantry Plus located at 801 E Washington St, Bloomington, IL 61701.

Franzettis Pantry Plus generated 6 percent of Bloomington's April 2016 lottery ticket sales and 4 percent of McLean County's sales that month, which was $1,404,907.50.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in McLean County in 2015 were Towanda, El Paso, Chenoa, Danvers and Le Roy.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
