Dwight FPD responds to 37 fires in 2017

Dwight Fire Protection District responded to 88 calls in 2017 - 29.4 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Dwight included 37 fires - 11 structure fires, 13 vehicle fires and 13 other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $462,750 in fire loss - or about $12,507 per fire.

The department also received 50 false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related death.

The Dwight Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $381,855 in 2017.
