Towanda Fire Protection District responded to 23 calls in 2017 - 11.5 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Towanda included 18 fires - eight structure fires, three vehicle fires and seven other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

The department also received three false calls.

The Towanda Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $299,280 in 2017.
