MCLEAN COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: Chestnut Health Systems Vice President Receives Statewide Recognition

Recognition1

McLean County Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Sept. 7.

Joan Hartman, Vice President of Behavioral Health for Bloomington-based Chestnut Health Systems, was presented with the George Schwab Distinguished Service Award by the Illinois Association for Behavioral Health (IABH). The presentation came at the IABH annual conference in Chicago.

The award recognizes an individual who has provided the greatest service to the association in a given year. It is in memory of George Schwab, a former association president, who symbolized the sacrifice and commitment of professionals in the field. Nominees have made significant personal contributions to IABH and to the behavioral healthcare field and have contributed leadership and expertise in the development of public policy. “Joan was instrumental in negotiating bills pertaining to behavioral health in Springfield during the 2018 legislative session,” said Sara Howe, Chief Executive Officer, IABH. Hartman also chaired two IABH committees and one sub-committee. “We simply could not have been a strong, successful association without her leadership,” said Howe.

Hartman, of Normal, oversees adult and adolescent substance use disorder treatment services for all Chestnut locations, and school-based behavioral health services, as well as detox and outpatient services for Chestnut in the central region. She has worked for the organization for 11 years.
