Livingston County referendum results a mixed bag

Livingston County had mixed referendum results on Nov. 6.

Voters approved the Livingston County Board Maintain A Public Health Budget Proposition.

The question on the ballot was: “Shall the Livingston County Board maintain an adequate public health budget to provide county residents with the support they need to experience and maintain independent living?”

With 100 percent of the votes counted, the proposition had 9,949 votes in favor and 1,889 opposed.

Voters also green-lighted the Livingston County Healthcare referendum: “Shall the County Board Levy instate an annual tax, not to exceed 0.025%, for a Senior Citizen Home Healthcare Program?”

With 100 percent of the votes counted, the referendum had 7,751 votes in favor and 4,214 opposed.

Voters in Livingston County were evenly split on the Gardner Fire Emergency referendum. The question on the ballot was,  “Shall the Gardner Fire Protection District levy a special tax at a rate not to exceed 0.10% of the value of all taxable property within the District as equalized or assessed by the Department of Revenue for the purposes of providing funds to pay for the costs of emergency and rescue crews and equipment?”

 With 100 percent of the votes counted, the referendum had two votes in favor and two opposed.

Voters in Livingston County also voted equally on the Gardner Fire Protection District Proposition: “Shall the Maximum Allowable Tax Rate for the Gardner Fire Protection District be increased from 0.30% to 0.40% of the value of all taxable property within the District as equalized or assessed by the Department of Revenue?”

With 100 percent of the votes counted, the proposition had two votes in favor and two opposed.

Voters rejected the Fieldcrest Community Unit School District No. 6 Proposition, a call for the issuance of $29 million school building bonds.

With 100 percent of the votes counted, nine were in favor and 11 were opposed.

Livingston County voted for the Flanagan-Graymont Community Fire Proposition District referendum, which asked: "Shall the limiting rate under the Property Tax Extension Limitation Law for the Flanagan-Graymont Community Fire Protection District, Livingston County, Illinois, be increased by an additional amount equal to .32924% above the limiting rate for the purpose of ambulance fund for levy year 2017 and be equal to .68706% of the equalized assessed value of the taxable property therein for levy year 2018?"

With 100 percent of the votes counted, 445 were in favor and 217 were opposed.
