Illinois State House District 105 issued the following announcement on Jan. 10
State of Illinois retirees who were notified of termination of some of their state health insurance benefits now have a second chance to “opt in” to immediately restore their prescription coverage, State Representative Dan Brady announced today.
Over the Holidays Rep. Brady (R-Normal) along with Sen. Chapin Rose (R-Mahomet) met with several local state retirees who received notices that their prescription coverage was being terminated. Illinois Department of Central Management (CMS) officials said the deadline had passed for them to reapply for the state’s TRAIL (Total Retiree Advantage Illinois) program, a Medicare supplement plan that provides prescription coverage. Rep. Brady immediately contacted CMS and worked with them to open up a second enrollment period this month to make sure these retirees won’t lose needed coverage.
“These retirees were distraught, and understandably so. Without coverage, some critically needed prescriptions are simply unaffordable,” Rep. Brady said. “I’m glad that they came to me, and I’m very glad that Senator Rose and I were able to work with CMS to make sure they have another opportunity to sign up for coverage they depend upon.”
