Dwight FPD responds to 38 fires in 2018

Dwight Fire Protection District responded to 90 calls in 2018 - 2.3 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Dwight included 38 fires - 15 structure fires, seven vehicle fires and 16 other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $1,107,900 in fire loss - or about $29,155 per fire.

The department also received 51 false calls, including one malicious call and 50 other false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related death.

The Dwight Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $978,183 in 2018.
