Village of Colfax Board of Trustees met March 7.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The regular monthly meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Mayor Larry Dodds.

Trustees present were:

Charles Morefield - Absent

David Rathke - Aye

Benjamin Thackeray - Aye

Carol Stephenson - Aye

Janice Edwards - Aye

Vincent Beck - Aye

Also present were Superintendent Josh Hereford and Village Treasurer Connie Gossmeyer.

Trustee Carol Stephenson made a motion to dispense with the reading of the minutes and approve as presented. Trustee Benjamin Thackeray seconded the motion. Vote: Charles Morefield-Absent, David Rathke-Aye, Benjamin Thackeray-Aye, Carol Stephenson-Aye, Janice Edwards-Aye, Vincent Beck-Aye. Motion carried.

Village Treasurer Connie Gossmeyer gave the Treasurer’s Report for the month of February 2022.

Beginning Balance $455,964.04

Ending Balance $468,813.04

Increase for the month of February 2022 $ 12,849.00

Trustee Vincent Beck made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report for the month of February 2022. Trustee David Rathke seconded the motion. Vote: Charles Morefield-Absent, David Rathke-Aye, Benjamin Thackeray-Aye, Carol Stephenson-Aye, Janice Edwards-Aye, Vincent Beck-Aye. Motion carried.

Trustee Benjamin Thackeray made a motion to pay the bills as presented. Trustee Janice Edwards seconded the motion. Vote: Charles Morefield-Absent, David Rathke-Aye, Benjamin Thackeray-Aye, Carol Stephenson-Aye, Janice Edwards-Aye, Vincent Beck-Aye. Motion carried.

Public Comments-Items on the agenda.

There were no public comments.

Police Chief Ritchie Cooper is absent. There is no police report for this month. Ritchie will give February’s Report at the April 2022 meeting.

First special report was given by Superintendent of Maintenance Josh Hereford. Josh reports that they spent several days plowing and removing snow from Main Street. The sewer flooded twice in the month of February requiring the diesel pumps to be ran. Josh and Nick cleaned up rock and mud out of resident’s yards cause by plowing.

Mayor Larry Dodds reports there is an Animal Control/Zoning Report in your folders for review.

Mayor Larry Dodds reports there is an EMA Report in your folders for review. The North Siren has been repaired and is working properly.

Final Special Report was given by Mayor Larry Dodds. Included in the report was the summary of revenue for the month. The Village of Colfax received its portion of franchise fees from Mediacom in the amount of $3,926.34. Mayor Larry Dodds reports that a letter has been sent to Alliance Grain/Bloomer Line requesting repairs to all the crossing within the village.

Finance and Audit Committee Chairman, David Rathke, has nothing to report at this time.

Police and Liquor Committee Chairman, Carol Stephenson, has nothing to report at this time.

Water and Sewer Committee Chairman, Charles Morefield, is absent.

Streets and Lights Committee Chairman, Benjamin Thackeray, has nothing to report at this time.

Maintenance Equipment and Vehicle Chairman, Vincent Beck, has nothing to report at this time.

First item of New Business was the discussion and consideration of the quote for conducting the inspection of the water tower in anticipation of determining the scope of future work.

Trustee Vincent Beck made a motion to approve the inspection of the water tower by Farnsworth Group at a cost of $2,900. Trustee David Rathke seconded the motion. Vote: Charles Morefield-Absent, David Rathke-Aye, Benjamin Thackeray-Aye, Carol Stephenson-Aye, Janice Edwards-Aye, Vincent Beck-Aye. Motion carried.

Next on the agenda was the discussion and awarding bid for contract for dualator cleaning, interior and exterior painting and replacing of the filtering media. Engineer Shane Niedzswecki from Farnsworth Group was in attendance to answer any questions regarding the two quotes submitted.

Trustee Benjamin Thackeray made am motion to award the base bid, alternate bid #1 and alternate bid #2 to GA Rich & Sons for the dualator cleaning, interior and exterior painting and replacement of the filtering media with authorization given to Mayor Larry Dodds to sign notice to proceed documents for Farnsworth Group. Trustee Vincent Beck seconded the motion. Vote: Charles Morefield-Absent, David Rathke-Aye, Benjamin Thackeray-Aye, Carol Stephenson-Aye, Janice Edwards-Aye, Vincent Beck-Aye. Motion carried.

Next on the agenda was the first reading of the 2022-2023 Appropriation Ordinance for the Village of Colfax, McLean County, Illinois.

There were no public comments.

Trustee David Rathke made a motion to adjourn. Trustee Benjamin Thackeray seconded the motion. Vote: Charles Morefield-Absent, David Rathke-Aye, Benjamin Thackeray-Aye, Carol Stephenson-Aye, Janice Edwards-Aye, Vincent Beck-Aye. Motion carried.
