In a March 3 Facebook post, Sen. Sue Rezin (R-Morris) cheered the Morris Community High School Speech Team for their win at the IHSA Sectional.
The State Tournament in the IHSA Speech competition was held on Feb. 17-18, in Peoria, at the Civic Center.
"Huge shout out to the Morris Speech Team winning the IHSA Sectional of the third consecutive year!!! #Congratulations #2023 @38thSenateDistrict #MorrisIllinois" Rezin said in the Facebook post.
Coach Andrea Gustafson spread the word after Sectionals in a Feb. 12 Tweet.
“IHSA Sectional CHAMPS & 9 events headed to IHSA State next weekend. @MCHSSpeech”Gustafson said in the tweet.
In the link shared by Rezin, Shaw Local reported, “Morris received first place finishes from Sofia Best in Orginal Oratory, and Haven Perdomo in Humorous Interpretation; second place finishes from Angela Georgaklis and Faith Ragan in Dramatic Duet Acting, Faith Ragan in Prose Reading, Haven Perdomo in Special Occasion Speaking, Joy Dudley in Radio Speaking, Liam Eber and Nicholas Black in Humorous Duet Acting, Liam Eber in Orginal Comedy, and Performance in the Round."
