City of Pontiac Planning & Zoning Board met March 27

City of Pontiac Planning & Zoning Board met March 27.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The City of Pontiac Planning and Zoning Board held a meeting on Monday, March 27, 2023, at 4:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers to consider the following:

Manish Uppal, petitioner, who has requested a variance to reduce the signage setback by 9 feet. Table 7.06.3 of the Pontiac Municipal Code Book states that the setback for a sign is equal to height of sign, but not less than 5 feet. Mr. Uppal’s current sign is 14 feet tall, and petitioner requests a 5-foot setback, as customers continue to run into said sign. The legal address of the property is 1.65 ACRES OF LOT 1 IN PONTIAC REYNOLDS SUBDIVISION to Pontiac, Illinois, with a common address of 1030 W. Reynolds Street.

The following members were present: Rick Baier, Pat Martin, Tim Fogarty, Tim Lewis, and Bill Abraham. Paul Giordano and Matt Stock were absent. Also present were David Wilson from the Building and Zoning office and Manish Uppal, petitioner. Pat Martin acted as Chairman due to Mr. Giordano’s absence. With a quorum being present, the meeting began at 4:30 p.m.

Rick Baier made a motion to approve the minutes from the February 27, 2023 meetings and with a second from Tim Fogarty and a unanimous yes vote, the minutes were approved. Bill Abraham mentioned to the Board that similar variances in the same area were approved. The Board briefly discussed the possible event of the sign falling into the road, however, after calculations were made, the end result would be that the sign would not be tall enough to fall into the road. With no more discussion, Tim Lewis made a motion to City Council to recommend approval for the variance. With a second from Tim Fogarty and a unanimous yes vote, the motion was approved.

With no further discussion, Tim Lewis made a motion to adjourn the meeting and with a second from Bill Abraham and a unanimous yes vote from the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 4:32 p.m.
