McLean County Unified School District No. 5 Board Finance Committee met April 21.

COMMITTEE ATTENDEES: Alan Kalitzky, Stan Gozur, Dr. Kristen Weikle, Marty Hickman, Tommy Hoerr COMMITTEE ABSENTEES: None
OTHER UNIT 5 ATTENDEES: Joe Adelman
1. 2023 - 2024 FEES
● Mr. Hickman informed the Committee that fees for the 2023-04 school year will be proposed at the May Board meeting. Administration is proposing not to raise the registration and technology fees. However, Administration will propose to raise lunch prices by $0.20 and also raise building rental fees.
2. AMENDED BUDGET UPDATE
● Mr. Hickman and Mr. Hoerr gave a brief update on the Amended Budget. The Amended Budget will be presented at the May Board meeting. Administration doesn’t expect much change from the mid-year budget review earlier this year.
3. SOLAR PROJECT UPDATE
● Mr. Adelman gave a status update on the solar project at Northpoint. He also asked the Committee for input as to when to present the solar project to the full Board. The Committee determined there should be further discussion on this.
4. FUND BALANCE POLICY
● Mr. Hickman floated the idea of a fund balance policy now that a referendum was passed and the District financially stable in the Educational Fund. This will be a topic of discussion in future Finance Committee meetings.
5. TRANSPORTATION SAFETY HAZARD REVIEW
● Mr. Hickman informed the Committee that Administration is planning to review the current transportation safety hazard zones. For existing zones, Administration will investigate if improvements have been made so that those zones are no longer necessary. If the District can reduce zones, this will reduce costs to the Transportation Fund.
6. PUBLIC COMMENTS
● No members of the public were present for comment.
