Woodland Community Unit School District 5 Board of Education met May 21.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education of the Woodland CUSD#5 held a Regular Meeting on May 21, 2024 at 6:02 pm. The meeting was called to order by Eric Sass.

Answering roll call were: Eric Sass, Jeremy Adams, Chad Gilkerson, Rebecca Sterling, and Eric Perhach

Also, present were: Dr. Ryan McGuckin, Superintendent and Leland Brooke, SRO

CONSENT AGENDA

It was moved by Jeremy Adams and seconded by Rebecca Sterling that the Board of Education approve the Consent Agenda. Roll call: all yeas 5 yeas and 0 nays. The motion carried.

Approval of the open and closed session minutes for the April 16, 2024 Regular Board of Education Meeting

Approval of payment of Unit #5 vendor bills

12.2 It was moved by Eric Perhach and seconded by Jeremy Adams to approve bread bid through Alpha Baking as presented

12.3 It was moved by Eric Perhach and seconded by Eric Sass to approve the Energy Contract for one year with Constellation as presented

Roll call: all yeas 4 yeas and 0 nays and 1 DID NOT VOTE (Sterling). The motion carried.

12.4 It was moved by Rebecca Sterling and seconded by Eric Perhach to approve Consolidated District Plan for the 2024-25 school year

12.5 It was moved by Eric Perhach and seconded by Jeremy Adams to approve intergovernmental agreement renewal with the Livingston County Sheriff's Office and Woodland CUSD #5 for a Full Time School Resource Officer for the 2024-25 school year

12.6 It was moved by Eric Perhach and seconded by Rebecca Sterling to approve updates to the Woodland CUSD #5 Policy Manual as updated in accordance with PRESS

12.7 It was moved by Eric Perhach and seconded by Chad Gilkerson to approve Cell Phone Policy for the 2024-25 school year

12.9 It was moved by Eric Perhach and seconded by Chad Gilkerson to approve the Elementary, JH, and HS Student Handbooks as presented with a change to the time to get to school to participate in an extra-curricular activity to 8:45 AM

It was moved by Eric Perhach and seconded by Chad Gilkerson to enter executive session at 6:55 PM to consider the following:

The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity. 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1).

Collective negotiating matters between the public body and its employees or their representatives, or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees. 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(9)

Discussion of minutes of meetings lawfully closed under the Open Meetings Act, whether for purposes of approval by the body of the minutes or semi-annual review of the minutes as mandated by Section 2.06. 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(21).

14.2 It was moved by Eric Perhach and seconded by Eric Sass to approve Teachers and Aides for the 2024 summer school as presented

14.3 It was moved by Jeremy Adams and seconded by Eric Perhach to approve school nurse agreement with Shawna Flanary as presented

14.4 It was moved by Jeremy Adams and seconded by Chad Gilkerson to approve employment of Heather Perhach as Special Education Teacher for the 2024-25 school year

Roll call: all yeas 4 yeas and 0 nays and 1 DID NOT VOTE (Perhach). The motion carried.

14.5 It was moved by Eric Perhach and seconded by Rebecca Sterling to approve Sydnee Plesko as JH Softball Coach for the 2024-25 school year

14.6 It was moved by Jeremy Adams and seconded by Eric Perhach to approve Ella Sibert as HS Volleyball Assistant Coach for the 2024 season

14.7 It was moved by Eric Sass and seconded by Rebecca Sterling to approve Jessica Banister as JH Volleyball Assistant Coach
