Village of Gridley Village Board met June 3.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Gridley was held at the Village Hall on Monday, June 3, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. Richard Martin opened with a word of prayer.

President Benedict called the meeting to order and directed the Clerk to call roll, and upon roll call, the following Trustees answered present: Michael Finck, Richard Martin, Susan Laiming, Kevin Krones, Jay Kiefer and Mick Finck. Quorum present. Employee, Mark Peterson was also present.

Jeff asked if there were any corrections or additions to the May meeting minutes. There were none. Kevin made a motion to approve the minutes and Jay seconded the motion. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. Motion carried.

Board reviewed the “Bills received by Clerk.” There were no additions. Mick made a motion to approve the bills and Mike seconded the motion. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Trustees reviewed the Treasurer’s report. After discussion, Susan made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s report. Jay seconded. All trustees answered in the affirmative.

Richard presented the proposed Contract for Police Services between the Village of Gridley and the City of Chenoa. Cost is to be increased from $69,000 to $85,000 the first year with a 2% increase each year through June 30, 2028. Contract still includes a $5,000 annual fee to be used toward squad car purchase. The committee is recommending that the board approve the contract. After discussion, Richard made a motion to accept the proposed contract. Mick seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

Michael reported that the annual health insurance renewal with Illinois Central Management, Local Government Heath Care Plan is coming up July 1. The premium for one employee is $1,271.00, up from $1,107.00 last year. After discussion, Michael made a motion to accept the proposal. Susan seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion

carried.

Jay recommended to the board that the village spend $20,000 on sidewalk replacement again this summer After discussion, Jay made a motion to spend up to $20,000 for sidewalks. Kevin seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

The board has been presented with a Compensation and Waiver of Siting Authority for Wind Turbines Agreement from Panther Grove 2 LLC. The board determined that they have questions for Panther Grove 2 before they approve an agreement, so the subject has been tabled until the July board meeting.

Bill Hendren, Hendren's Sports Center, attended the board meeting to ask the board to reconsider allowing UTVs to be driven on village streets.

Thomas Luke, 101 E. 2nd St., attended the meeting to ask the board to reconsider the ordinance against chickens and other farm animals.

Mick made a motion to adjourn. Jay seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Laiming-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.
