Playing on its home course, the Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team finished second at the IWU Fall Classic on Sunday, September 15. The eighth-ranked Titans posted a final round score of 297 on the par-72, 5823-yard course to place runner-up in the 19-team field.
Using birdies on three of her final five holes, senior Macy Ludwig climbed up the leaderboard to finish second. Carding a one-under 71, Ludwig finished the tournament even at 144.
Fellow seniors Jadyn Spinks, Jacque O'Neill, and Kylie Hundman also placed in the top-20. Spinks tied for 10th at 149, while O'Neill earned a share of 14th at 150. Hundman grabbed a top-20 finish at 153, tying for 18th.
Freshmen Gigi Zera and Breanna Brown posted career-best rounds with scores of 74 and 79, respectively, while Grace Fagan tied her career-best mark with a 78.
Aided by a medalist performance by Tiffany Chan, WashU took home the team title with a two-day total of 581. Chan carded a 36-hole mark of two-under 142. The Titans placed second at 593, edging out Grinnell (597). St. Mary's (608) and Aurora (613) rounded out the top-five, with IWU's 'B' team placing eighth (624).
Next on the schedule for the Green and White is the UW-Whitewater Invite from September 22-23 at TPC Wisconsin in Madison.
